python - Global text caret position in Linux -


i need find global caret position in linux. problem similar this 1 windows. guys have idea?

more information: trying make input method indic language. using ibus libraries in python. need create lookup table found in ibus requirements such decided better if make whole thing again using tk (or something). link in question solves problem windows tooltip follows text caret. need x-windows.

there no such thing caret position in x11. while older uim framework did job of displaying input method ui near cursor position, failed enough abandoned.

you might want take @ scim framework. note preferred hint application @ completion state rather provide separate editor, gives more seamless integration.
