Keeping first two instances in a column of duplicates in excel -

i have long list of items duplicate identification numbers in 1 column. records not duplicates across spreadsheet. looking extract first 2 rows first 2 iterations of duplicate numbers when sorted different value (time/date).

i've seen topics on keeping first instance of duplicate items, not keeping first 2 instances in records. i'm looking formula or vba. thanks

first sort records ones want keep higher column.

add column you'll put formula (i'm assuming first id number in cell a1):

=countif($a$1:a1, a1)

drag formula bottom of table , copy/paste values in place remove formula.

insert filter , can filter on results of 1 , 2 first 2 instances of id numbers. copy fresh spreadsheet in sheet.
