snmp - How to add a new OID and fill values? -


i need beginner advice - tutorial searched either outdated or not contain information how achieve want.

i want:

  • create new oid (now under experimental, later reserve new oid enterprise)
  • under oid, i'd create table (sequence) 2 string columns.
  • somehow, definition has compiled , added existing mib on our server. how?

that's want, didn't make find out this.

please if point out simple steps, quite great!

telling how write mib extremely difficult. it's complex process , need understand lot of background behind mib design. recommend go read book (understanding snmp mibs being 1 of best). without learning mibs first, you'll make many mistakes.

as software, it's impossible answer without explaining environment: operating system, machine type, etc. if you're using net-snmp, see coding tutorials page. if you're using commercial product (eg, snmp research), go ask them help!
