Search for text within a file opened in eclipse that is not part of a project. -


this should incredibly simple can't seem figure out.

this involves searching text string in random file opened in eclipse using file|open file.. option , opening file (naturally) file system. in case, file massive .css file unrelated project.

i click on search tool, or press ctrl-h , pops search window. doesn't matter tab select because none of them return known results. if select 'file search', uncheck 'case-sensitive', select file pattern ., or *.css, select workspace (only option available) , search, 0 results, when in fact, should dozens.. (i'm searching 'padding'.)

search works fine me when i'm in project, catch if want search random file? complexity here little amusing. right click option 'search file' awesome , immensely when trying search isolated div in massive .css file.

try ctrl-f search within open file/window. (i'm using sts eclipse)
