linux - Best way to port MySQL to Mac? -

this post contains 2 questions. got macbook pro college, , continue web development on (i come ubuntu background). right now, i'm using mamp (mamp.info) amp package mac, although haven't started using yet. more or less setting workspace right now. so, questions are:

  1. do think mamp best choice web dev on mac? if not, else recommend?

  2. i running lamp on ubuntu , have quite few databases tables in mysql on there. how can port these on mac without recreating every individual database hand? tried transfer of raw data files but, although ported databases, reason there no tables in of databases. ideas?

thank in advance!

download virtual machine, , install linux , rest of server stack. more realistic development environment, , if screw up, don't screw whole os. moving databases, mysql dump , port run sql on new server. best way through phpmyadmin.
