How the does YouTube SSL certificate work, it says *.google.com -


i wondering how youtube ssl certificate works because says issued *.google.com.

i thought wildcard ssl certificates work sub domains?

the common name (cn) in certificate used when no dns subject alternative names present (see rfc 2818 section 3.1). when sans present, of them identifying server. certificate use youtube has of these:
